Vecinos Unidos (Neighbors United) | Community Organizing

Goals:  (1) Identify and resolve neighborhood issues (2) Disseminate information (3) Move people to action. 

Developing grassroots leadership that pressure elected officials to be accountable to their constituents by addressing issues of economic disparities in housing, education health and employment.

 

 
 
 

Dolores Huerta Community Organizing Institute

Training new organizers and community organizations in the organizing methods and leadership development created by Fred Ross Sr., César E. Chávez, and Dolores Huerta. 

Emphasis is placed on: (1) Transforming people to become leaders by connecting them with their power (2) Making real and concrete improvements in people's lives (3) Changing the relations of power.

 

 
 

 

Policies of Conscience

Researching and advocating for policies on a local, statewide, and federal level that benefit workers, immigrants, families, women, and youth by engaging our supporters in strategic direct action.

Maintaining archives and historic materials from Dolores Huerta’s lifelong work in order to teach organizing and empowerment through multi-media popular education workshops across the country.

Vecinos Unidos In The News

A group of parents organized by the Dolores Huerta Foundation gathered 746 signatures on a petition, asking the Arvin Union School District to install filters on the drinking fountains at all four schools.

"The arsenic levels are too high," said Timoteo Prado, an organizer with the Dolores Huerta Foundation.
